The State State TaskForce on Immunization Meeting on Polio Eradication

The Deputy Governor, His Excellency Barrister Mahdi Aliyu, has urged local Government Chairmen to actively support polio endgame with all the seriousness commitment it deserves to ensure that the crippling disease is eradicated from Zamfara State.

Addressing the State Task Force on Polio Eradication (STFoPE) meeting in Zamfara, Barrister emphasized the urgency, strong commitment needed to complete the goal of polio eradication as rapidly as possible bearing in mind that it is a major priority of the government.

The main objective STFoPE was to provide oversight ensure effective leadership for polio eradication, routine immunization, primary health care.

He called on chairmen to ensure commitment attending evening review meetings at the LGA headquarters, directed security agencies to continue to collaborate with health workers to reach all children with vaccination services.

He assured that the State Government will make available the required counterpart fund for polio other health programs.

The Permanent Secretary health earlier at the meeting, restated government’s commitment through intensive supervision for quality implementation of health care activities in the State,

The Executive Secretary State Primary Health Care Board who also updated the STFoPE on the status of Polio eradication, other vaccine-preventable diseases in the State, enumerated a number of challenges militating on the quality implementation of the supplemental routine immunization services called for the full commitment of governors to support efforts in states to achieve the goals.

Speaking at the meeting partners supporting polio eradication program in the State, the State Team lead for WHO appreciated the giant stride taken the government to own the entire process. He also advocated that other member of the committee should be encouraged to attend considering their relevance.
